When the "Phylloxera" (vine fretter) plagued Europe within the 19. Century it destroyed a large amount of vines. The vines that this wine is made from were belonged to the few that were not affected by the plague. Their origines date back to 1594. I am especially thankful and proud that Fabio Sireci from Feudo Montoni winery provides this wine to us.

This Nero D'Avola is indeed a wine of a century. This very limited weine belonges to the few vines that survived the vine fretter plague in the middle of the 19. Century. A special wine that is suitable for a special occasion. It is essential to decant it to ensure that the wine develops its full potential. I recommend to let it breathe at least for two hours.
